Provisional data reveals that in August 2017, CONVENE industry partner airBalticAcarried more than 380,000 passengers, or roughly 20% more than in the same period last year. For the third month in a row, it has been the biggest number of transported passengers in the airlineas history. During the summer months,Athe Latvian airline transported more than 1,150,000 passengers to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.
Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer ofAairBaltic, said, a?Such a strong summer would not have been possible without the addition of seven brand newABombardier CS300Aaircrafts. They have outperformed our expectations. Last week, for example, our latest addition to the fleet spent nearly 100 hours in the air, which is a globalAC SeriesArecord.a?
a?When we worked on theAHorizon 2012Abusiness plan a few years ago, we set rather high ambitions for the airline. Still, we never expected to see such rapid growth so early. We hope to finish 2017 with excellent results, as our winter sales look rather promising as well,a? Gauss noted.
airBalticAoperates direct flights on a regular basis from Vilnius to Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Riga, and Tallinn. Moreover, the airline offers direct flights from Riga to over 60 destinations in Europe, CIS, and in October, the Middle East.
