The Latvian airline airBaltic has received the Dienas Bizness TOP 500 award as the Exporter with the Largest Export Growth in Latvia. It was awarded by Latvian business newspaper Dienas Bizness and IT company Lursoft IT, which for the past 22 years has compiled an annual TOP 500 of the most valuable companies in Latvia based on their performance results.
According to the collected data, last year airBaltic managed to grow export by 749,06%. The newspaper analysed company export data according to the available information from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. In the general TOP 500 list of the largest companies in Latvia airBaltic stands in 12th place, five places higher than last year. In addition, airBaltic is the local leader in the passenger transportation segment.
Reflecting on this achievement, Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic, said, “We are proud to be recognised as the local leader in export. airBaltic is excited – being the top exporter means that we at airBaltic play a vital role in growing the Latvian economy. This supports our strategy with further growth and more employment in the coming years.”
Last year, airBaltic transported a total of 3,523,300 passengers or 22% more than the previous year. In 2018, the company has been continuing its stable growth with improved operational and financial results. Over the past ten months, airBaltic has carried 18% more passengers than in the same period last year. In addition, airBaltic concluded the first half of 2018 with total revenue of €180.8 million, which is a 19% increase over the same period last year.
airBaltic currently operates direct flights to Vilnius from Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, Munich, Paris, Riga and Tallinn, as well as direct flights from Riga to over 60 destinations, and has a fleet of 35 aircraft.
