Throughout 2018, LITEXPO has hosted four international military events. Two of them, open to the general public, took place in the month of November, including IESMA 2018, a bi-annual event hosted at LITEXPO for the fourth time that attracts high-level military officers and market players for information and best practice sharing, as well as introducing technologies for advancing energy efficiency in the military. With a private territory and exterior exposition spaces, LITEXPO was able to embrace the extended exposition of solar batteries and a wind power plant.
On the same date, the new Baltic Miltech Summit project was launched by Enterprise Lithuania. This was the first and the only event in the Baltic countries dedicated entirely to military technology in general. High-level public officials, representatives of companies in defence industries, and startups gathered at LITEXPO in Vilnius to brainstorm new ideas and discuss emerging trends in defence and military technologies.
These two events also commemorated the Centenary of the Re-established Lithuanian Armed Forces, which was subsequently celebrated this 24 November. Both of these events succeeding in raising attention and increasing financial support for the military defence sector in the Baltic States, and opened new doors for future international events of this type to be hosted in Lithuania’s capital at LITEXPO.
LITEXPO, the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre, is the largest exhibition centre in the Baltic states. The venue is made up of five multifunctional event halls covering an area of 17,600 square metres and can be combined and adapted for a variety of events.
